Potential Swine Flu Pandemic Solution

Los Angeles, CA-Scientists are increasingly worried that the H5N1 strain of Avian Flu will mutate into a form easily passed between humans, triggering a global pandemic. H5N1 infection, viral sepsis leading to major organ failure is often the cause of death.

BOV-23 is a novel inorganic co-polymer designed to target a panel of infectious virus lines such as  Avian Influenza (H5N1 and Type A Flu Virus A/Aichi //2/68 (H3N2).  BOV-23 has demonstrated in vitro and in vivo efficacy in animal models with a considerable therapeutic window.

Confirmatory studies for in vivo antiviral activity were then conducted using murine models infected with type A avian flu (H5N1), type A influenza. There have been significant studies done on various infections, on safety and mutations with striking results.

In his discussion with Dr. Richard Bowen, professor at Colorado State University, Bovis Pharmaceuticals CEO Brian Jovanovic stated that it is a responsible time for Bovis to reveal its unique drug candidate with striking results against Influenza type A viruses.

In his response, Dr. Bowen, a Professor of Infectious Disease and the head of research on the drug, stated, "Based upon in vivo animal studies, Bovis has previously conducted using other influenza viruses, I am optimistic that BOV-23 will be effective against this new swine influenza virus and am excited to be involved in such a study."

Colorado State University is currently conducting antiviral studies for Canivet LLC a sister company to Bovis Pharmaceuticals, LLC and has agreed today to design a specific study to evaluate the efficacy of

Bov-23 against swine influenza virus.  These organizations are involved in studies of different viruses since 2008."
